You’ve completed the first leg of your electrification journey — vehicles are deployed, charging infrastructure is in place, and drivers are on the road. Now the real work begins. In this essential session for both public and private fleets, David Worthington, Fleet Manager for the County of Santa Clara, brings 18 years of firsthand experience managing successful zero-emission fleets to address the day-to-day safety and operational hurdles you’re likely facing. We’ll explore how to adapt your workplace and maintenance facilities for BEVs, including OSHA requirements, safe battery handling protocols, and staff training. On the operational side, we’ll tackle the next layer of challenges: understanding traction battery warranties, the importance of backwards-compatible replacements, and dealing with charging disruptions. This session goes beyond the “why” of electrification and into the critical “how” of sustaining and scaling your BEV fleet safely and effectively.

Presenters: David Worthington, Fleet Manager, County of Santa Clara; and Clinton Bench, Director of Fleet & Transit, University of California, Los Angeles
